Interior Designer Support
01 – THE BRIEF
INTERIOR DESIGN MENTORING
Leisha Norman started her interior design business a few years ago. With initial success, she soon found herself very busy.
Admitting she “went into the running and setting up of a business blind”, Leisha needed help with essential business skills.
Spotting Vicky on social media, Leisha joined the Interior Designers Business Network Facebook group. She took part in some of the free challenges, aimed at helping interior designers with accountability and setting business goals.
02 – THE CHALLENGE
INTERIOR DESIGN MENTORING
Overwhelmed with finances and building business foundations
Leisha knew she needed help building the foundations of her business. It’s hard to grow your interior design business without these essential things in place. Leisha had seen success with client work but knew she couldn’t avoid these issues any longer.
Looking at her finances caused Leisha stress – “I would fear away from them as I find them quite overwhelming”. She needed help “understanding and streamlining the finances and pricing”.
Then life threw an unexpected curveball at her, changing her priorities completely…
“I needed to get a hold on things because in December I found out I was pregnant. I needed a game plan for 2023.”
Feeling “overwhelmed by the things I wanted to do to streamline my business”, she decided to sign up for 121 business mentoring with Vicky.
03 – THE SOLUTION
INTERIOR DESIGN MENTORING
Mentoring to set priorities and turn goals into a reality
The first mentoring sessions concentrated on setting realistic goals and prioritising her tasks.
Focusing on the all-important finances first, she evaluated all her services and packages. Running through this allowed Leisha to check she’s “charging rightly for my time”. Knowing these figures also means she can focus on marketing the smaller, quicker tasks after the baby arrives and still run a sustainable business.
The business essentials are now all in order – “they’re all little things that I had started but not perfected, and Vicky’s helped me to go in and fine tune every aspect that we’ve spoken about”.
04 – THE RESULTS
INTERIOR DESIGN MENTORING
Leisha “totally nailed it” with support from her mentor
A big change is ahead for Leisha and her interior design business with a baby on the way, but now she feels confident to move forward.
Weekly mentoring sessions gave Leisha a “kick up the bum to do all the things I was saying I would do”. She found the external accountability valuable – “having someone to answer to on a week-by-week basis for all of the tasks I wanted to do, and be able to achieve them, that was the best bit about it.”
Leisha is “really happy with how things have gone… and I couldn’t have done it alone”.
